Providing nearly 400
enzyme products ranging from food and beverages to household cleaning and
biofuels, Genencor has been a world leader in industrial biotechnology and a
pioneer in enzyme innovation. Now a part
of DuPont, DuPont Industrial Biosciences provides enzyme products for biomass
hydrolysis and offers complete solutions along the entire biorefinery value
chain. DuPont's latest generation of biomass enzyme complex, Accellerase®
TRIO, is a breakthrough in enzymatic hydrolysis that coverts biomass into
fermentable C5 and C6 sugars, often up to 2-fold lower dose. The performance
results using Accellerase® TRIO in enzymatic saccharification of
various biomass substrates with different types of pretreatment will be
presented. Additionally, key learnings and feedback from customers in the
emerging biomass industry will be discussed, in relation to the
commercialization of 2nd generation ethanol technologies.
With substantial
investments planned for the emerging biomass industry, DuPont is building its first
commercial cellulosic ethanol plant in Nevada, Iowa. This demonstrates a
strategy for success by touching every point along the value chain from farm to
factory, to the development of a bio-based economy.
