(743d) Thin Film Conductivity Measurement of PEDOT:PSS Nanocomposite Films

Polymer–clay nanocomposite film based on poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT):poly(styrene sulfonic acid) with different concentrations of montmorillonite were studied. The montmorillonite platelets used in this studies were fully exfoliated and was characterized using AFM. PEDOT:PSS films have been used as a hole transport layer in OLED and a buffer layer between ITO and active layers in organic solar cells. Intercalation of PEDOT:PSS in exfoliated clay galleries may result in excellent thermal stability and controlled electrical conductivity. Transparent and conductive film of PEDOT:PSS was deposited on ITO coated glass substrate using a spin coater. The dispersion of MMT as a conductive filler in the polymer was studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM).  Ordering of intercalation of PEDOT:PSS was found to be increased with increasing concentration of MMT. In plane (parallel) and out of plane (perpendicular) conductivity measurements of polymer nanocomposite thin films will also be studied using a four probe technique.
