Stem cell research holds enormous potential for contributing towards treatment and ultimately cure for many diseases for which adequate therapy does not exist. This session focuses on utilizing stem cell for therapeutic applications in particular through bioengineering approaches. Basic understanding of stem cell behavior as well as translational studies using embryonic stem cells, induced pluripotent cells or tissue specific stem cells is of interest to this session. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: novel methods for propagation and/ or tissue specific differentiation; novel agents or biomaterials for propagation and/ or tissue specific differentiation; systems level modeling to understand stem cell behavior; signaling pathways involved in stem cell propagation and/ or differentiation.
