Environmental Aspects of Interfacial Science and Engineering

Chair(s)

Tsianou, M., University at Buffalo - The State University of New York (SUNY)

Co-chair(s)

Pesika, N., Tulane University

This session welcomes papers addressing fundamental and application studies on environmental aspects of interfacial science. When substances are intentionally or accidentally released into the environment, interfacial interactions can become predominant. Relevant topics include: chemical, physical, and biological properties of colloids (e.g., nanoparticles, surfactants, dispersants, oil) that determine their fate and transport, novel methods/technologies to detect, characterize, or predict environmental impacts, and ways to manipulate the interactions of released materials with naturally occurring constituents in order to minimize the consequences of exposure to humans and ecosystems. Both experimental and theoretical contributions are welcome.
