This session seeks presentations regarding experiments, models and applications which exploit the complex behavior of electrochemical interfaces for energy storage. Energy storage electrodes can be both traditional battery electrodes as well as systems which produce "electrofuels" for later consumption, such as flow batteries or semi-open fuel cells. Of particular interest is the coupling of electronic and ionic conduction at non-ideal surfaces, for example slurried electrode interfaces, non-noble catalysts, and passivation layers.
