This session will highlight recent advances in the engineering of microorganisms for the conversion of renewable feedstocks to biofuels, bulk and fine chemicals, and pharmaceutical ingredients. Emphasis will be given to innovative molecular engineering strategies and novel products. Topics relevant to this session may include, for example: metabolic and cell engineering for improved fermentation and cell culture processes; strain evolution for industrial applications; novel enzymatic pathways to produce non-natural products;
