Slurry milling can be an important element of pharmaceutical production to achieve particle size requirements for drug product performance. The work to be outlined and discussed will focus on a robust, scaleable method using real time feedback via FBRM for acquiring a consistent final PSD with the use of a slurry mill for particle size reduction. The FBRM probe was placed inline with the milling loop to simplify the impact of hydrodynamics on chord length distribution measurement. Milling samples were pulled at discrete time intervals and analyzed off-line to correlate PSD to a FBRM chord length distribution which can be used as a target during milling. Robustness of impact to variation in PSD at milling start point and transfer of CLD target across scales will be discussed.
