(290a) Invited: Peptide Amphiphiles: Modular Construction Of Biomaterials

Authors

Tirrell, M. - Presenter, University of Chicago

Peptide amphiphiles combine the functionality of of peptides and proteins
with the ability create synthetic, modular bioactive materials. These
engineered molecules can be designed to have self-assembly characteristics
driven by either hydrophobic interactions or electrostatic complexation.
Examples will be given of tissue engineering matrices as well as
self-assembled structures with activities ranging from tumor targeting to
atherosclerotic plaque identification to immuno-modulation.
