(396w) Measurement of the Solubility of Water - Ethanol Mixtures in PDMS Membranes

The measurement of the solubility of the ethanol - water mixture into the PDMS polymer membranes is necessary to describe the flux of these components through the membrane; however little information is reported in the literature relating to such measurement. This paper develops an experimental technique for the determination of the solubility in polymer membranes of PDMS which is based on the quantification of the phase dispersion through photography, the experimental technique was used for the evaluation of the solubility of ethanol - water mixtures through PDMS membrane, the results have good reproduction and appears to fit well with the results reported in the literature.
