Thermal-hydraulic (T-H) analysis of coolant flow in the hot leg turner in a small modular reactor was conducted using ANSYS FLUENT 14.0. Coolant flows through the hot leg, impinges on the pressurizer plate (jet action) and turns around into the annular region around the hot leg, into the steam generator. The flow physics have been modeled with emphasis on the wall effects at the pressurizer plate. A range of coolant flow rates have been used to model different thermodynamic situations in the reactor and the stress effects on the pressurizer plate have been reported.
