Biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing is being revolutionized by the advent of single use processing systems. Single use solutions now exist for upstream through downstream process steps. This has led to a rethinking of the traditional approach to pilot, clinical and commercial manufacturing. It is now possible to install and start-up a biopharmaceutical production suite in a matter of months rather then years, and can be setup to run in grey space. This has resulted in an acceleration of biopharmaceutical development with the advantages of reducing both the time and expense required to get new therapies into the clinic. The advantages of single use systems is now carrying forward into manufacturing where reduced cost and accelerated schedules are possible. In this session we'll explore both the development and application of single use systems for the development and commercialization of biopharmaceuticals.
