Various forces have provided the impetus for the uneven and slower than anticipated growth of a new generation of chemicals sourced from non-petroleum-based supply chains. Motivation provided by feedstock costs from oil, environmental concerns, or government influence are pushing against risks of creating new processes, logistics, and markets. Interestingly, a wave of new capital is being deployed currently. New products are being introduced today and in the coming few years. These advances are built on solid development work as well as exciting technical innovation. We will discuss a few examples to describe this space.
