Poster Session: Thermodynamics and Transport Properties (Area 1A)
Monday, November 17, 2014 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Transport properties, like viscosity, for pure and mixtures of liquids are very important in the industry, especially the dynamic liquids viscosities of alcohols. In this work, results of the experimental determination of dynamic viscosity for 1-buthanol and 1-penthanol are presented. The viscosity have been measured with a new capillary viscometer designed and built to operate at pressures up to 40 MPa and temperatures up to 473.15 K. The dynamic viscosity was measured at pressures up to 30 MPa and 353.3 K of temperature. The estimated precision and accuracy of the measurements were estimated to be less than 1%. The measured dynamic viscosities were compared with data, predictions and correlations previously reported in the literature. Differences between the literature and the measurements reported here are less than 0.6%.
