Nanoaerosols in form of viruses or pollutants produce serious health problems. Filters made of nanofibers (100-300 nm in diameter) can effectively remove these nanoaerosols by diffusion for particles less than 100 nm (referred as nanoparticles by ISO) and interception for particles greater than 100 nm. Unfortunately, the pressure drop across the filter can be enormous as the pressure drop varies inversely as the fiber diameter is raised to the second power.

We have developed a multilayer nanofiber technology whereby the pressure drop can be kept under control while the filtration efficiency is not sacrificed. A number of examples are used for the demo including nanofibers made of various materials.
