In this study, various modified molybdenum carbide catalysts was synthesized via temperature-programmed reaction (TPRe) process and used for the reforming of methanol and water gas shift reaction. The catalyst properties were characterized. It is found that the catalyst activity and stability depended on the metal type, doping amount, and reaction temperature. Pt, Ni and Cu-doped Mo2C catalysts with special doping amount showed excellent catalytic activity and long-term stability. The nano-size metal particles were found to be well dispersed on the surface of Mo2C. The reasons for the deactivity property in the steam atmosphere were analyzed and discussed.
