Three different regions of gangue were selected and analyzed in this study to examine the characteristics of mercury (Hg) emission in the coal gangue combustion process. The effect of temperature on the properties of Hg emissions from coal gangue, including the release characteristics of Hg under different final temperatures and different heating temperatures under different heating times, were investigated. The kinetic parameter of Hg during the heating process was calculated. Finally, the characteristics of Hg emission in the combustion process was examined to study the impact of particle fineness and residence time as well as coal gangue combustion with coal on the Hg emission characteristics. Experimental results show that the release of Hg is determined by the initial content of Hg in coal gangue and the Hg occurrence form. At the same temperature, the amount of Hg released from coal gangue increases initially and then decreases with time. The Hg heat reaction series in the process of coal gangue is 1. The adsorption amount of Hg at fly ash after gangue combustion is higher than that in pulverized coal. The adsorption capacity of Hg in fly ash after coal gangue burning decreases significantly with the increase in wind.
