Starting a business has its special and unique technical challenges relating to deciding on a focus, designing a strategy for communication and outreach, identifying clients, obtaining financing, and many others. But unless you are a single adult, there is another factor and that is your family. If they have gotten used to a regular paycheck, travel being reimbursed, promotions coming on a regular business, and the occasional special recognition, this can all come to a screeching halt. The support and understanding needed from a family and external networks is critical for a new venture to succeed. The level of this support will also depend greatly on how large the imagined enterprise is envisioned to be.
This session will share some first-hand learnings for how to deal with these issues.
