Gerhold and Kunesh Award Plenary Session on Separations
Monday, November 17, 2014 - 8:30am to 9:00am
The field of chemical process separations covers a very wide range of technologies including distillation, extraction, adsorption, crystallization, and membrane-based separations. This presentation will give an overview of the industry and provide examples of several new approaches taken at Dow in the development and implementation of separations technology for commodity chemicals, specialty chemicals, and bio-derived products. Examples include novel applications of solvents in bioprocessing, membrane-assisted removal of VOCs from latex, and reactive distillation for chiral separations. Methods for rapid screening of separation process options also will be described.
