Process safety and evaluation efficiency Improved through understanding of decomposition kinetics and practical application of Time to Maximum Rate under adiabatic conditions in 24 hours (TMRad24). 50K and 100K offsets are too small to catch all runaways when the onset temperatures are above 180C and are over conservative for onset temperatures much below 180C. Only one DSC is required to use the simply and conservatively estimated TMRad24 rule. The one and three DSC TMRad24 calculations and the risk to reward of each assumption will be presented.
