The newly developed impeller technology creates unique flow pattern and different flow mechanisms for solids suspension. The flow pattern it creates is a combined axial and radial flow without installation of baffles. Solids are suspended by the tornado like flow pattern which is much easier than conventional impellers. The bottom-motion speed is regarded equivalent to the just-suspension speed. For solids suspension reactor design, the key parameter is the flow velocity to make the settled solids “move”, at the most difficult location, such as tank corner. If the solids can be moved, they will normally be suspended.
