As MAC celebrates 25 years since its inception, it has achieved significant successes within the Institute primarily because of the extraordinary vision, sacrifices and hard work by its Pioneers and members who have excelled in their own fields in Chemical Engineering theory and practice, while supporting MAC’s  tremendous growth. Compared to some other Major Engineering Societies in the US, MAC stands out as a model. As we enter the 21st century however, we have identified significant challenges that MAC and AIChE at large must address in order to continue on this trajectory of success. This include  ensuring a pipeline and succession plan for  MAC leadership succession and participation of MAC members in major Technical Divsion and Committee leadership in the Institute. These also include ensuring a pipeline of individuals--especially African-American males—working in chemical engineering and related areas.  Strategies will be presented to address these challenges for the next 25 years.
