(228g) The Role of Ncats, SBIR to Support Precompetitive Collaboration

The NIH SBIR and STTR programs are one of the largest sources of funding for early-stage technologies in the United States. NCATS small business funding is designed specifically to transform the translational science process. SBIR or STTR support is granted after NIH's rigorous peer-review process. The support provides stable, predictable funding that is not a loan, and allows small businesses to retain intellectual property rights. This presentation will outline NCATS SBIR/STTR program, discuss how the program can impact development of technologies in precompetitive space in pharmaceutical industry, and present recent examples.
