CO2 is the main product of a combustion reaction and an acid gas. Carbon cycle used to be balanced on our planet, however, human activity has unbalanced; natural processes are insufficient for CO2 fixation and high levels of pollution have resulted in problems such as the greenhouse effect and global warming. For these reasons, it is necessary to treat emissions of carbon dioxide. There is a relatively successful process: using ethanolamines as absorbents.
This work is about study of a ternary system consisting of water, ionic liquid and amines. The study of ternary systems is limited and usually the scope of the compositions of the mixtures is reduced. It seeks an absorbent capable of capturing as much CO2 looking for the optimal mix. In literature are only published data for binary mixtures of amine + water or tetrabutylphosphonium bromide + water[1,2], but more volumetric properties data is needed.
