Using a geometric design approach, stage calculations of a reactive dividing wall column with the ternary isomolar reaction were carried out under the given operating conditions. Before specifying the operating conditions, the minimum values of them were estimated by assuming the feed-pinch where the liquid molar composition of a feed stage is equal to that of above or below feed stage. For given operating conditions, the required number of stages, liquid/vapor molar composition, and the extent of reaction on each reactive stage in terms of both reaction equilibrium and reaction kinetic constraints were determined. This geometric stage calculation could provide a potential on integrating reaction and separation and evaluating the feasibility of the ternary isomolar reaction in a highly complex system of reactive dividing wall column.
