A acyl chloride incorporation of triazine ring, 1,3,5-triazine- 2,4,6-tricarbonyl trichloride, was synthesized to fabricate a novel polyamide thin film composite(TFC) membranes via interfacial polymerization with m-phenylenediamine (MPD) on porous polysulfone supports. Compared with cyanuric chloride, the triazine with acyl chloride group monomer exhibits higher reactivity towards MPD. The prepared membranes were characterized by ATR-IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, SEM, AFM, contact angle and zeta potential measurements, and the chloride resistance was studied by the evaluation of membrane performance before and after chloride exposure. The results reveal that the chloride stability of TFC membranes had been improved in comparison to the membrane prepared from MPD and TMC.
