A state-of-the-art Chemical Process Innovation Center was recently created at Vanderbilt to allow immersive education of our chemical engineering undergraduates.  Specifically, the Chemical Process Innovation Center is a facility that includes our undergraduate unit operations laboratory modules, most of which are custom designed and built at Vanderbilt, wireless network technology with Apple iMac’s, Apple TV’s, mobile student work stations, and ten 65 inch HDTV monitors positioned throughout the center.  In addition to the unit operations labs and the design curriculum that will be discussed, a measurement lab program using any number of our over 50 sensors and interface units is also included in the center.  A specific description of the integration of chemical engineering lab, design and safety courses will be provided along with a detailed description of the center.  This approach will highlight the immersion experience that chemical engineering students at Vanderbilt receive through the use of this center.
