We demonstrate that the grain size of graphene can be controlled by reducing the nucleation density during Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). By this method, we were able successfully obtain single crystals graphene monolayers with diameter up to 5.9 mm. The graphene grains can be further augmented by limiting the growth at seed edges. For bilayer graphene, sub-millimeter size single crystal bilayer graphene is obtained by optimizing the chemical vapor process by allowing the absorption-diffusion mechanism to dominate in the CVD growth. Electron transport measurement on those produced graphene has shown carrier mobility that is comparable with that of mechanical exfoliated graphene, indicating the high quality of our graphene sample. We will also review our recent progress in application research of graphene.
