Development of a novel alternative visible spectrum tracking tool for bioseparation processes forms the motivation of this work. Current tracking tools such as spectroscopy (absorbance at 210 or 280 nm) or fluorescence are either non-specific or requires UV spectrum light. A novel peptide when fused to a recombinant product of interest is hypothesized to be useful for product tracking because of its small size and more importantly, visible spectrum signature. The poster focuses on the tracking features and discusses the methodology of its development. Chromatography is used as a representative unit operation of bioseparation. Breakthrough curves, often used for studying and optimizing column performance, were collected for model products that were extended by both the novel peptide and a fluorescent tag (control).
