The Southern States Energy Board (SSEB) is adapting lessons learned in CO2 capture and storage from power generation to promote commercialization and dissemination of clean energy technologies within the refining and petrochemical industries. The U.S. Department of Energy has partnered with seven Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnerships (RCSP) to advance innovation and research in carbon capture and sequestration. SSEB manages the Southeast Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership (SECARB), including its Phase III Anthropogenic Test. The Anthropogenic Test is a fully integrated CO2 capture, transportation, injection, storage and monitoring project that began injecting in August 2012 and concluded injection in September 2014. The project currently is in a 3-year post injection monitoring phase. The post-combustion CO2 capture facility is a 25 megawatt equivalent advanced amine system, located at Alabama Power Companyâ??s Plant Barry fossil based power generation facility.
