High Performance Teams: How to Best Create and Maintain Them
Tuesday, November 15, 2016 - 9:50am to 10:10am
Entrepreneurial venture participants are either superstars or oddballs. Both traits are needed. The effort in building a high performing team must focus on finding the mix of innovative off the wall creativity, with the ability to drive fast-paced targets and get things done. Decisions must be made on the fly without all the information, but the aspects of safety and ethics can never be compromised. Innovation is unleashed by having mundane tasks taken out of the equation.
An entrepreneurial team is built on excellence, confidence and passion. Changing the world comes with with chaos. Relationship is built on the abnormal. A high performing team is built on trust. Non-traditional members of a venture may not be viewed as the traditional high performers, but they are high performers by what they deliver. The same traits that make it great also tends to blow it apart.
The emerging engineering and operations focus on non-traditional chemical engineering feedstocks has brought many unbeknownst to them non-traditional resources into traditional chemical engineering operations.
The challenge is harnessing this new passion. There is nothing more fulfilling, exciting or satisfying.
