This presentation will feature a wide variety of hand-on engineering design projects which have been used in a wide range of settings, from high school outreach programs, to freshman design, to material & energy balance courses, to junior level transport courses. The projects feature real-world context, threaded by STEM content, while utilizing the engineering design process. The design projects are low cost and are easily adaptable to a wide range of audiences. The projects include a hemodialysis system, a renewable energy system, a heart lung system, hot air balloons, contaminated water purification process, etc. Many of the projects have professionally produced videos which introduce the design challenge and provide the real world context, hands on activities which help students understand key content and help them with the successful design of their projects, design project handouts, grading rubrics and access to on-line curriculum. Videos taken during design project testing will also be featured.
