In Honor of Wei-Shou Hu I - 30 Years of Mammalian Cell Culture Engineering for Biologics Manufacturing (Invited Talks)
Tuesday, October 31, 2017 - 9:55am to 10:15am
Over the last 30 years, a series of technology advances have improved our ability to use mammalian cell culture to produce important human therapeutics. These include cell line, media & processing improvements that have led to dramatic increases in the efficiency & speed of developing production processes as well as enabling cost-effective production of antibody and protein products at the metric ton scale. These production improvements have provided the opportunity to pursue new approaches and opportunities for the treatment of important diseases resulting in significant benefit to patients and opening new doors for further future benefits. In this presentation, several examples of these technological advances will be reviewed and connected with resulting benefits as well as future opportunities for further impact.
