Schlumberger’s next-generation automated stimulation delivery platform is a bottom-up redesign of wellsite hydraulic fracturing surface equipment and automation that brings highly industrialized and sustainable processes to a mobile operation. Automating stimulation delivery redefines industry expectations for hydraulic fracturing process control and consistency. Conventional stimulation equipment automates only a few mixing and pumping functions, which cannot meet the demands of modern hydraulic fracturing operations: enormous volumes of fluid and proppant; complex mixing requirements; and continuous, high-intensity pumping operations. The new processes with automation bring a high level of work synergies, an increase in efficiency, a 10-fold increase in reliability, and a minimized environmental footprint to the industry’s growing requirements for more stages and proppant delivered per day. This multiyear effort to revolutionize the service delivery platform shows Schlumberger’s commitment to innovation and global stewardship in sustainability.

This presentation will focus on the new technologies and methods that have enabled the automated stimulation delivery platform. The product development needs such as extreme engineering, synergistic collaborations, and rapid prototyping techniques will be discussed to provide an insight into how industry adapts and innovates new products in a critical time-to-market project. Furthermore, a sustainability modeling software called Stewardship Tool, developed by Schlumberger, will be utilized to demonstrate the superior environmental footprint performance of the new platform as compared to the traditional methods used in the industry.
