Advances in Chemical and Nuclear Process Safety
Tuesday, October 31, 2017 - 3:15pm to 3:40pm
Hazard analysis with its 4 basic steps of hazard identification, event postulation, control identification, control selection with an overarching safety risk impact is the building block of safety evaluation and management. The presentation will build on the hazard analysis process for chemical and overlay the regulatory and process impact associated with nuclear hazards. The Department of Energy (DOE) regulations, standards, handbooks, and guides will be discussed rather than the requirements from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The presentation will show similarities in meeting EPA and OSHA requirements along with other DOE requirements. A discussion of the DOE approved codes tools box used for chemical consequence evaluation along with evaluation guidelines.
