Panel: Precompetitive Collaboration
Wednesday, November 1, 2017 - 9:20am to 9:40am
Throughout the last ten years, The Center for Structured Organic Particulate Systems (C-SOPS) has existed as a National Science Foundation ERC focused on the pre-competitive development of pharmaceutical manufacturing products and processes. During peak levels of activity, six universities and over fifty corporations were involved in the program. A major focus of the program throughout and even today is continuous solid dose manufacturing. Through this program, much of the groundwork resulting in todayâs commercialized continuous solid dose manufacturing approaches by member organizations such as Vertex, Janssen, Eli Lilly and others was developed pre-competitively. Today, C-SOPS continues to work closely with top pharmaceutical companies adopting advanced manufacturing technology such as continuous. In this talk, a brief history of C-SOPS will be presented along with lessons learned on pre-competitive efforts and where the program is going today.
