(642a) Challenges of Process Modeling in the Agrifood Industry

For about 20 years, Cargill has been developing a library of process modeling and simulation tools to improve existing and new processes. We simulate parts of, or entire, existing agrifood processing facilities to uncover and quantify opportunities as well as to design solutions to make our existing processes more sustainable. We also apply this same library of tools to better design new processes. We present, in varying levels of detail, some of the tools we have created along with challenges and successes from our equation-oriented system modeling approach.
