Polsky, Y. - Presenter, Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Efficient integration of advanced sensors, data management, modeling and controls presents both tremendous challenges and opportunities in industry today. While these elements are all present in today’s manufacturing environment, they are largely implemented serially and independently resulting in inefficiencies when modifications are introduced in manufacturing systems or when engineering activities are performed to adapt manufacturing lines to changing conditions. This presentation describes ongoing efforts at Oak Ridge National Laboratory to develop a ‘Smart Manufacturing’ framework that couples technologies, software systems, and engineering workflow to optimize the manufacturing and enhance the understanding of Carbon Fiber production.
