Introductory Remarks from MAC Eminent Chemical Engineers Award Committee

Blacks in many ways face a crisis in regards to numbers of individuals pursuing medicine, engineering and science. For Instance numbers of Black men matriculating into medical school are now lower than they were almost 40 years ago. The causes are manifold. Solutions are demanded.
To quote Baldwin 'Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.'

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers and its Minority Affairs Committee should take a leadership role in advancing solutions to address what is a growing crisis. Next steps are outlined.
