(322e) Process Technology Assessment for Mega Scale Projects

The assessment of process technologies is an important part of integrated process engineering for enterprises to make strategic decisions on new commercialization investment or on the expansion of existing operations with cutting-edge technologies. It becomes even more critical especially when a project requires technologies that are unfamiliar to an organization.

This paper discusses a basic understanding of the work required and the fundamentals in evaluating innovative process technologies for mega scale projects in chemicals manufacturing. The assessment principles, criteria and the processes will be discussed in both technology, economics as well as sustainability perspectives. Coal Gasification technology for Syngas manufacturing is used as an example.
