(372n) A Fully Online Matlab Course for Freshman Chemical Engineers

All chemical engineering students at UC San Diego are required to complete a four credit introductory MATLAB coding course which covers basic programming techniques and engineering computations. Previously the course has only been offered in a traditional lecture format. A fully online, self-paced, and for-credit MATLAB course was designed in collaboration with MathWorks and piloted in Winter 2018. An overview of the course structure, outcomes, and scalability will be addressed, as well as student perceptions and the MathWorks-academia collaboration.
