Density of binary mixture of solutions diethyl malonate + acetonitrile has been measured over the entire composition range at (288.15, 293.15, 298.15, 303.15 and 308.15) K and atmospheric pressure. Density of both pure liquids and their mixtures were measured using a commercial densimeter analyzer (Anton Paar DMA 4500). Excess molar volume, partial molar volume, apparent molar volume, partial molar volume at infinite dilution have been calculated from the experimental data and the results of excess molar volume have been fitted using a Redlich-Kister polynomial. The values of excess molar volume are positive over the entire composition range and become more positive with increasing in temperature. These binary mixtures were also analyzed by using 1H-NMR (Avance III 600 HD Bruker spectrometer operating at 600 MHz for protons and 150 MHz for carbon) and FTIR spectroscopy techniques [Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy Nicolet with attenuated total reflectance (FTIR-ATR) (Model 6700)]. The results obtained are discussed in terms of intermolecular interactions between like and unlike molecules.
