We characterize diffusion trends in polymerized ionic liquids using atomistic molecular dynamics simulations of imidazolium cations with eight counterion species. We report diffusivity as it relates to glass-transition-normalized temperature. Results suggest that ion mobility is decoupled from mechanical strength for these polymers compared with their pure analogs. We examined the structural coordination and dynamic timescales of ion association, relating such measures to the mobility of counterion species. The effects of size and symmetry on ion mobility and structure/dynamics decoupling, along with the mechanisms responsible for such effects, are revealed in this report.
