(168a) Best Practices for Teaching Focused Faculty

Between 2006 and 2015 the number of full time teaching focused faculty in Engineering and Technology programs has increased by more than 80 %, yet during approximately the same period the number of full time Tenure/Tenure track faculty grew by about 10 %. Statistics will be provided for the number of chemical engineering faculty in the US by rank, position and gender. An overview of the contributions that can be made by Teaching focused faculty will also be presented. Based on the literature and experiences of Teaching focused faculty, best practices are recommended for the successful, mutually beneficial practices for Teaching focused engineering faculty and their administrative leadership.
