(168d) Presenting Yourself to the World: Academic Portfolio As a Professional Brand

Do you see yourself as a brand or just a busy academic focused on surviving your teaching, service, and research assignments? You may be working hard, but at the end of the day, a professional brand is the sum total of you and how you’d like to present yourself to the world – or at least specific target audiences (colleagues, students, employers, funders, promotion committees, etc.) The processes of sharing who you are can sometimes be overwhelming and exhausting. However, what if we create leverage our academic expertise and prepare a portfolio that can help us improve our academic career, showcase our work, and build a community in engineering education?

In this presentation you will be able to identify best practices on constructing an academic portfolio that can potentially become part of your professional brand. Also, your will learn how to share it online using multiple platforms. You are encouraged to bring a computer or any material that you want to share.
