(275e) Zeolites in Industry and Academia – History and Future Perspective

Exxon Mobil (EM) was pioneering many discoveries in the field of zeolites and catalysis. A milestone in the field of zeolites was the discovery of ZSM-5, which has represented a quantum change in the C8 Alkyl aromatic transformations, as well as in the production of propylene during catalytic cracking. Most interestingly, researchers at EMRE pushed the forefront of fundamental zeolite knowledge for synthesis, characterization, catalysis and adsorption. Their research has inspired to scientist from several generations and I will give my personal view how we have been constructing further knowledge and applications on those bases. I will present the objectives and some of the results on new materials synthesis obtained within our collaboration with EM, as well as our ideas on how the field can still progress and expand.
