Hydrophobe-substituted cellulose ethers are well-known as bio-derived associative thickeners in a range of applications, including latex paints, oil-field fluids, and personal care products. Using dynamic oscillatory rheology, we examine the effect of molecular weight, associative substituent length and degree of substitution on the yield stress and critical associative concentration of their aqueous solutions.
