A thermoenergetic evaluation of the steam generation and distribution system of the Universidad del Atlántico was carried out, using as reference for the determination of the thermal efficiency of the steam generators the "PTC Code 4.1 for steam generation units of the ASME". The evaluation of the main boiler showed a combustion efficiency of 75%, with a deficient air/fuel ratio mainly, and a thermal efficiency of 77.97 ± 1.23%. By operational adjustments in the burner, the excess of air was reduced by 91%, increasing the efficiency of combustion by 9.7% and thermal efficiency by 6%, achieving an economic saving of $ 1,312,840 COP/year and 0% of CO emissions due to incomplete combustion. The condition of the thermal resistance installed in the steam generation area, in the steam distribution and in the return of condensates was evaluated by a thermographic study. All the radiant and convective heat losses in the system were quantified, which amount to $ 253,700 COP / year.
