A case study for the undergraduate material and energy balance course was developed based on the 2017 publication of a flow chemistry process by Eli Lilly and Company. The case study is presented as homework problems that can be distributed throughout the semester, covering topics such as material balances on non-reactive and reactive, single-unit and multi-unit processes, liquid-liquid, vapor-liquid, solid-liquid and solid-vapor equilibrium, and energy balances on reactive and non-reactive processes.
