Research Interests:

Sensors make everything smart. Bio/chemical sensors have a wide application in industrial processes and our daily life. Sensitivity, Selectivity and Stability are three key performance indicators of a chemical sensor. While selectivity has always been the most challenging issue for most of the chemical sensors, there are increasing demand for ultra-sensitive sensors for trace chemical detection (e.g. breath sensors for health diagnosis). And stability is also extremely important for industrial applications, where reliability and long lifetime are desired. My research goal is to build multi-sensor system for complex chemical environment, which can be applied for environmental monitoring, food quality and safety detection, and health diagnosis, etc. My research interest lies in designing novel ultra-sensitive nano-structured chemical sensing materials, developing miniaturized sensors arrays, and using machine learning algorithms to process sensor data for species identification, concentration determination, baseline drift and environmental compensation.

Teaching Interests:

I’m interest in teaching core courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, such as thermodynamics, kinetics, transportation phenomena, electrochemical engineering, etc. I’m also eager to developing courses related bio/chemical sensing technologies.
