(6gp) Applications of Nanofillers in Advanced Composites

Authors

Vashisth, A. - Presenter, Texas A&M University
Research Interests: As a researcher, I plan to expand my work on polymer composites which includes polymer derived ceramics, using MXene in polymer composites, additive manufacturing of thermoset & ceramic composites, and molecular simulations of nanofiller-polymer interface. My research goal is to focus on combining nanoscale processing, material characterization and reactive molecular dynamics to develop a deeper understanding of nano-mechanics and how properties of nanofillers translate to large scale composites. Recently, I have been developing Data Science based algorithms to understand nanofiller-polymer interactions in thermosetting matrices with aim to extend these methods to other nanocomposites.

Teaching Interests: The foundation of my teaching philosophy is to educate and foster critical thinking and problem-solving strategies in my students and further facilitate the acquisition of life-long learning skills. As a recipient of Distinguished Teaching Fellowship at Penn State, I realized that teaching is my passion. Apart from teaching undergraduate courses, I plan to develop graduate courses on "Atomistic Scale Simulation Methods for Engineers" and "Nano-structured composite".
